What Are Carbohydrates?

Carbohydrates are sugars and starches that are present in foods and acts as an energy source for our bodies.

Two different types of carbohydrates can be found, which are simple (monosaccharide’s) and complex (polysaccharides). Complex level carbohydrates mainly consume a large time for getting digested in our bodies.

These can be available in many forms of whole grain breads, pasta, vegetables, brown rice and legumes.

Foods that are having grains of unrefined level will easily retain these complex level carbohydrates.

The main reason that our bodies will easily conduct this is because the process of refining has got ability for filling you up and acting as a whole day energy source for you.

Fruit and dairy products are a good source of simple level carbohydrates – which can be easily digested through our bodies. Various simple carbs can also be found in processed and refined food such as pastas, white, bread and sugar.

The bodies live has the ability to digest carbs by breaking and dividing them into simple sugars and glucose.

This will then easily stimulate the body for producing insulin in the pancreas. The insulin mainly works into for pushing sugar to the body cells so that energy conversion process can take place.

These are two different types of carbohydrates that will make a change in the way of producing insulin.

When the body works for digestion of simple carbohydrates, the various levels of insulin will spike in a much faster way and will be used as a source of energy that is much faster than complex level carbs.

This is the main reason why most of the people eat a bar of candy for supplying themselves with quick energy.

Of course, negative results of this can be that these levels of energy will leave as quickly in the same manner they came when sugar high stops after completion.

Body will take a longer time level for digestion of complex level carbohydrates and due to this the levels of energy will last for a longer time period.

Now, if too much amount of glucose were to be produced through our body much more of it would be stored to our liver and muscle cells in the form of glycogen.

When our body is in a major need for extra energy boost, then glycogen plays its important role and starts functioning.

Any other glycogen that isn’t capable of storing itself in muscle cells and liver will be stored in the form of fat.

While carrying on some short exercises our body will use some immediate glycogen storage. Long lasting exercises and some harder workouts will make use of glycogen that is being stored as fat in order for drawing forms of energy.

For proper functioning of your body and for prevention of fatigue, slow mental functioning, and cramps in muscles you will always need consumption of a specific amount of carbohydrates.

The institute of medicine has recommended of about 40-65% adults require “dietary energy” that can come through carbohydrates. World Health Organization recommends that about 55-75% shall be the normal level of consumption.

There are various diets that can help you in teaching how to prevent any or all carbs while aiming for weight loss.

These are some diets that don’t have a chance of always being healthy and are associated with negative effects for your body. Using a low carb diet in place of cutting out on carbs is a beneficial measure.

Remember that our body gains the ability for producing all energy that we require from fats and proteins – but a small amount of carbs can always prove beneficial as well.
